Platform overview

Amplience is a content operations platform built for enterprise retail. Its headless CMS and DAM give teams the tools to create, manage and deliver structured, on-brand content across every channel, region and format.

There are two versions of the platform, the new platform and the classic platform. Both use the same products and the same data, so you can work in either, or use them side by side. Because the new platform is still evolving, some features from the classic platform may not be there yet. See What's new for what's changed.

These docs cover the new platform, which brings content, assets, flows and reviews together in one interface, with the Assistant built in.

How the platform is organized

The new platform puts everything in one place, so you can find an image, add it to a content item and publish it without switching between products. It's organized into areas for Content, Assets, Content types, Reviews and Flows. Administrators configure the platform in Settings.

Wherever you're working, you can ask the Assistant to do work for you, and use the workbench to work on several items at a time and switch between them.

  • Headless content management system (CMS) - Authors create structured, reusable content items, and teams localize and publish them across channels, with full revision history. You work with the CMS in Content.
  • Digital asset management system (DAM) - Store, organize, transform and deliver images, video and other media at scale, with AI-powered tagging and search. You work with the DAM in Assets.
  • Developer tools and APIs - Developers define content types using JSON Schema, and use the Content Delivery and Content Management APIs, the SDK and CLI tools to deliver and integrate content. The APIs are the same in both versions of the platform.
  • Real-time image and video transformation - Amplience Dynamic Media optimizes assets on the fly, so they're delivered in the right format and resolution for any device or channel.
  • AI-powered automation - Flows automate repeatable work, such as content generation, and your team approves the results in Reviews.
  • Account management - Manage users, roles and permissions for your account, across both versions of the platform.

Amplience is designed to work for developers, content teams and administrators, each with their own tools, workflows and priorities.

  • Content creators - Create, edit and publish content and assets in one place, with configurable layouts, conditional fields and real-time preview. Create content once and publish it to every channel, and hand repetitive tasks, such as generating content, to the Assistant. Manage variants and localize content, while keeping track of ownership and status.

  • Developers - Model content with JSON Schema or the visual editor, deliver it through the Content Delivery and Content Management APIs, and integrate with the frameworks and tools you already use, such as Next.js, React and Salesforce. The SDK, CLI tools, schema reference and integration marketplace help you build faster.

  • Administrators - Set up your account structure, manage users and permissions, monitor platform plans and credits, and set up flows to automate work.
